Camera Settings
In our assignment we need to choose a specific camera setting and explore a way to do a final project based around the setting. I will be identifying the 3 main camera setting which are the ISO, Shutter Speed and Aperture. After this I will be choosing a camera setting and create a plan for Task 2.
Aperture
The first one I will be talking about is Aperture. I think this setting is the hardest to remember, I often would get confused as to which size I want, and it would lead to loads of experimentation. Aperture is the opening and closing of the lens which is measured as f-stops. As seen in the images a low f-stop means the lens is open more and the higher the f-stop is open less. When the lens is on the low f-stop because the aperture is more open it lets in more light and vice versa. The aperture is what one of the things, besides focal length, that determines your depth of field.
Shutter Speed
The next is the shutter speed which is the time of how long the sensor will be open. Unlike the Aperture the shutter speed is measured by seconds. The longer you leave the shutter open the brighter the image will come out since it is exposed by a lot of light. Besides being exposed to more light, the sensor is more sensitive to movement. The shortest the shutter is open the better the image is 'stable. If you leave the shutter open on a moving object it will come out blurry. Slow shutter speed is often used to specifically show the movement, for light photography and night photography.
ISO
Last but not least is he ISO. This determines the sensitivity of the camera sensor. The setting go from a 100 to 6400 and more, and the higher the number is the more noise it will create which will give you a grainy texture to your image. ISO is mostly used in very desperate times when you are really struggling to get light and cannot change any other setting. The ISO could also be used on purpose, and by this, I mean that you would want the images to come out grainy, so you set it to its highest number.
